Pardew says Newcastle owe fans a performance

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits they owe their fans a performance after their dismal home defeat to Hull City.

The Toon entertain Leeds United in the third round at St James' Park on Wednesday night with Pardew still fuming over Saturday's capitulation against Hull.

Pardew said: "I am still livid about that result, so make no mistake, we are going to be at the races on Wednesday night.

"As far as I am concerned, I'm so disappointed about Saturday, I can't begin to tell you.

"It hurts me to even talk about it even now two days later. We got ourselves in a great position to be able to get into the top four of the Premier League on Saturday night.

"That doesn't come around often, and it might not come around in this season again, so that's how disappointed I am and we need to put that right."
