Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew was delighted for debutant Jak Alnwick after their win over Chelsea.
Pardew smiled when asked about his young 'keeper. He might have surprised us with his confidence, but it is clear the Academy graduate is no shrinking violet.
"Jak is an interesting story because he came to see me just before Tim got injured to say he was really disappointed in my management of him - he felt the club had let him down because we hadn't loaned him out, but we couldn't because he was our third choice and we would have put ourselves at risk," Pardew chuckled afterwards.
"He said his contract was up at the end of the year and he hadn't really been given an opportunity and he's been proven right. So fair play to him for coming to me and saying that."
