Pardew proud Newcastle flying Premier League flag in Europe

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew hopes to fly the flag for the Premier League in tonight's Europa League clash with Anzhi.

Though Pards admits England's top flight has been weaker this season, he is tipping a home-grown side to be crowned Europa League kings.

The Newcastle boss said: "Outside of Manchester United, the Premier League has not been of the standard of last year.

"But the group that's below the top four is getting stronger - Everton, Spurs and ourselves.

"Our league place doesn't justify that but I think next year we'll be competing in that.

"The depth of the Premier League is in no doubt and, if I was a betting man, I think the winners of the Europa League could come from England this year because the three left can concentrate on it. They are not going for the title and the experience we've gained so far is helping us all.

"We have a responsibility for not just Newcastle fans but for the Premier League as well.

"We represent the Premier League and are proud to do so.

"You need a few things to drop for you but I've looked at the other teams left and we can win it."
