Pardew: Newcastle struggles will make me better manager

Alan Pardew says he'll be a better manager for Newcastle United's struggles last season.

Pardew is determined to lead Newcastle back to the right end of the table when the new season kicks off.

"I've come under pressure this year and I think that's only going to be right, in terms of the results we've had," Pardew told nufcTV.

"I've tried to handle it in a dignified way but I'll definitely be a better manager for it.

"I've tried to speak to fans when I've seen them in the street and give them as good an answer as I can give, but the bottom line is we haven't been good enough.

"The most important thing is that you mature as a manager. You try to be consistent with your message to the players and to the fans, and I've tried to be that.

"It was important that we didn't get carried away when we did well last year and not get carried away this year when things have gone not so well.

"It's about putting mistakes right when you make them, and learning from those mistakes.

"We have made mistakes at every level of this football club, and we now have to react and get the response we need to take it forward and make sure the mistakes are corrected."
