Pardew makes effort to thank Palace fans following 5-1 shellacking

Alan Pardew took time to praise the Crystal Palace fans that travelled to Manchester City to watch the side defeated 5-1 in the Capital One Cup.

Palace were well beaten at the Etihad and Pardew was keen to acknowledge those fans that made the long journey from London by applauding them after the fixture.

Pardew told Sky Sports: "We deserved to be beat. We were a bit short and we need to strengthen and get some bodies back for Saturday."

"It was not so much an apology, but a thank you. We need to make sure we keep our fans with us.

"I know some of the fans had trouble getting here, so we'd like to say thank you and I hope we can repay them later in the season."
