Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew knows they face a battle to keep hold of on-loan QPR striker Loic Remy.
With no long-term permanent deal in pace at the end of the current agreement, Newcastle are vulnerable to a bigger club coming in to land the prolific 26-year-old.
Pardew expects a long drawn-out game of brinksmanship next summer, and he said: "I think Loic is going to be an ongoing thing.
"We're probably going to be talking about that for a long, long time. I don't want to start it now."
