Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew accepts Mike Ashley's limited transfer funds - and has likened the policy to Arsenal's.
Pardew is adamant that the economic climate means Ashley is along the right lines with his frugal approach at St James' Park.
He told the Sunday Sun: "As a football manager, you have to remember what you are - just a football manager. The agenda is set by the board and that is the same for Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid or Roberto Mancini at Manchester City.
"There are different agendas and you have to make sure you manage that agenda to the best of you ability - that is what I intend to do.
"I can think of a lot worse models which have not worked in the past and this model makes sense.
"If you listen to Arsene Wenger this week, the model he has at Arsenal is not too dissimilar.
"Ours is a business plan which will remain private because we won't be telling everyone what we want to do."
