Alan Pardew has paid tribute to Crystal Palace fans following his arrival from Newcastle United.

After their FA Cup win at Dover Athletic, Pardew refused to answer any questions about why he left Newcastle but the 53-year-old did have a message for his new set of supporters.

"Their support was phenomenal and I thank them for that," he said. "The fans showed one of the reasons why I came here. I am fortunate that they already have a special bond with me from my playing days.

"I am going to promise them two things: that we are going to put the ball at risk and that we are going to have a go."
