Alan Pardew is now free to negotiate personal terms with Crystal Palace after the south London club and Newcastle United agreed a fee for his services.
The 53-year old London-born Pardew is set to return to England's capital to take the reins at Selhurst Park after the Eagles sacked Neil Warnock on December 27.
The Magpies and Palace have come to an agreement regarding a compensation deal, believed to be around £2million, meaning Pardew will soon end his four-year spell at St James' Park to take over the struggling Eagles.
"Newcastle United have today been contacted by Crystal Palace, who have offered a level of compensation that allows them to speak to Alan Pardew," read a Newcastle statement.
"Therefore Alan Pardew will not be taking training at Newcastle United tomorrow (Tuesday).
"That will now be overseen by John Carver."
Pardew's expected move to Palace opens up the door for the likes of Hull City's Steve Bruce, ex-Stoke City boss Tony Pulis, former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood, Derby County's Steve McClaren and Glenn Hoddle to step into the role at St James' Park.
