Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew drew confidence from his new-look midfield in defeat to Manchester City.
Jack Colback and Remy Cabella both made their competitive home debuts yesterday.
Pardew said: "I thought the new guys were all solid today, I thought a couple of them were outstanding in Jack (Colback) and Remy (Cabella), both in different ways really.
"Jack's energy and power and competence with the ball, and Remy's feet and ideas, which didn't all come off, but you know he's going to try something, he's going to make a moment and when he has a hot day, he's going to punish teams. I thought the first half Man City edged it and deserved to leave, the second half I thought we deserved an equaliser."
