Newcastle United's Alan Pardew is sure that his players will not be negatively affected by the midweek Carling Cup loss to Blackburn Rovers.
The Magpies, undefeated in all competitions prior to Wednesday night's 4-3 extra-time defeat at Ewood Park, are away at Stoke City on Monday night and Pardew feels the Magpies will not suffer from being knocked out of the league cup.
"We haven't lost confidence, we actually grew during the game and if anything it's probably put a bit of fire in our belly in terms of the manner of the defeat," he said.
"It was only one late loss of concentration that's cost us, so we go into Stoke somewhat unscathed, although we're disappointed of course because we wanted to win that trophy, or have a good go at it."
