Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has hit out at rumours of Liverpool striker Andy Carroll being re-signed.

The chatter was also angrily denied by Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and Pardew believes the constant speculation is damaging Carroll's chances of succeeding at Anfield.

"I think it's unfair on the Newcastle public and I think it's unfair on Andy," said Pardew. "It was speculative journalism that had no foundation."
