Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits he needs to buy this month to deepen his squad.
Victory over West Ham United was mitigated by injuries to Steven Taylor, Cheik Tiote and Jonas Gutierrez - knocks which mean he is desperate to bring a new signing in to the club before the weekend FA Cup third round trip to Stevenage.
"We're hoping to bring someone in. We're down to the bare bones - injuries really are stacking up," he admitted.
"We had to finish with ten men because of injuries to Steven, Cheik and Jonas. The campaign has been tough and to be honest we're lacking conditioning because of the training ground.
"It's something that we're looking at but in the meantime we haven't got a big enough squad to cope with it - we're really up against it at Stevenage. We need to get a player in before that game."
