Daniel Pappoe is back at Chelsea after his loan spell with Colchester United was cut short.
The 19-year old centre-back was set to remain with the League One club until January but injuries and indifferent form have forced the U's to end his time in Essex.
"I'd like to thank Dan for his time with us, as well as Chelsea for letting us have another of their talented youngsters," Colchester boss Joe Dunne told the club's official website.
"He was extremely unlucky with his injuries and it was best for all parties for him to return to Chelsea."
