Panathinaikos want permanent deal for Newcastle midfielder Abeid

Panathinaikos are reportedly eager to secure a permanent deal for Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid.

Abeid spent the 2013/14 season on loan at the Greek heavyweights, scoring seven goals in 28 league appearances.

The Chronicle is reporting that Panathinaikos are interested in bringing the Frenchman back to Athens.

It is understood Abeid is ready to leave Tyneside after four seasons with the club, due to a lack of first team opportunities.

Newcastle are reportedly holding out for a cash fee.
