Panathinaikos move already turning sour for ex-Liverpool striker Cisse

Former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse's move to Panathinaikos has already turned sour.

Cisse is complaining to UEFA after he was targeted with racist abuse during a friendly between his club Panathinaikos and rivals Olympiakos.

Cisse, 27, had been subjected to abuse throughout the game and alerted the referee and coach Henk Ten Cate.

However, the referee failed to take action and the matter came to a head when Cisse celebrated a goal only for the fans to throw plastic bottles at him.

Cisse threw one back and the referee ordered Ten Cate to substitute him otherwise he would be sent off.

Cisse said: "This has never happened to me before. I didn't come to Greece for fans to react in this way and to make racist remarks whenever I get the ball. I became furious with all this."
