Panathinaikos chief Nikos Dabizas is confident signing Newcastle United midfielder Mehdi Abeid.
The Evening Chronicle says Dabizas has held talks this week with his former club and a decision, one way or the other, is expected soon.
Sources in Greece say Panathinaikos believe a deal can be struck for the 21-year-old midfielder, who was such a success for them last season.
Although whether Dabizas will be able to persuade Newcastle to part with the player for nothing, but with the promise of 50 per cent of any future sell-on fee, remains to be seen.
