Sampdoria captain Angelo Palombo is yet to decide whether he'll be staying with the relegated club.
It has been reported the Italy international midfielder could extend his contract despite offers from Fiorentina, Napoli, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus.
"Serie B is very different to Serie A," commented Vice-President Edoardo Garrone.
"You need motivation to play in the second division. If Palombo doesn't have that, then it will be difficult to reach an agreement. It's an issue of motivation, not money.
"Palombo is an important player for Sampdoria and for the fans. We will talk it over in a relaxed manner and decide on what to do.
"Despite all the reports, I can confirm there has not been contact with any other clubs."
