Palmeiras vice-president Roberto Frizzo admits they were offered Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz is currently playing on-loan at Real Betis.
Frizzo says Palmeiras coach Luiz Felipe Scolari turned down Santa Cruz - and added they won't be trying again for the Paraguayan in 2012.
