Palermo are ready to go Australasian again in the summer in the form of FC Midtjylland defender Winston Reid.
With Mark Bresciano on the books, Palermo are now eyeing Denmark U21 international Reid, who actually was born and raised in New Zealand.
Just 20, Reid is a former teammate of Palermo centre-half Simon Kjaer and could follow him to Sicily at the end of the season.
Sean Douglas, the Auckland Football Federation's Director of Football, told tribalfootball.com that while he was involved with NZ U20, they tried to secure Reid - but were beaten to the punch by the Danes.
Douglas, who had playing experience in Denmark, said: "Erik Larsen, who I played with in Denmark, tipped us off about Winston while he was with Brondby. Erik was assistant - and still is - to Michael Laudrup and told us about Winston."
Reid learned much of his football in Denmark and came to the notice of Midtjylland while coming through the youth system of Sonderborg.
