Palermo’s Bresciano: World Cup in Australia would be the pinnacle

Palermo midfielder Mark Bresciano believes the World Cup in Australia would be enormous.

The Australian international is hoping that his homeland can win the hosting rights to either the 2018 or 2022 tournaments which he believes would be the ‘absolute maximum’ achievement for this country.

“It would be the pinnacle, what more can you ask for?” Bresciano told the australia2018-2022 website.

“To host the World Cup and bring the whole world into our country would be huge.

“It would be a very big achievement for Australia, the absolute maximum.

“We already held Olympics, which I was part of, and I’m sure we’d do a good job.

“From an athlete’s point of view the Olympics were unreal.”

Bresciano admitted he may not be playing at the highest level if Australia was to get the 2018 World Cup but was confident he would be still doing something active.

“How old will I be, 38? Well, I might still be kicking around, I’m not sure what level,” he added.

“But I’m always active, always doing something whether it’s golf or tennis.”
