Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has slammed local media for their reaction to his team's 2-1 victory over AC Milan in midweek.

"For some time I have denounced the hostility of the media powers that be against Palermo," slammed Zamparini.

"In the post-match analysis of journalists and the pundits on Sky Italia and Mediaset was part of a public massacre based on a false or at the very least very dubious interpretation of the Amauri incident.

"The fact that the Gazzetta dello Sport today granted a mere 8x3cm column to Director of Sport Rino Foschi's protest against this attitude says so much about the objectivity of these aforementioned media institutions.

"The fans of Palermo in Italy and all over the world remain incredulous and upset by this sort of behaviour."
