Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has sacked coach Francesco Guidolin and brought back Stefano Colantuono.
"It was mathematics that fired Guidolin, not me I am worried, as I really did not expect at the start of the season to be battling against relegation.
"Sometimes this happens when you lack character. The team has never believed in its own potential, then injuries made the situation worse."
The Rosanero are in 12th place on 36 points - nine clear of the drop zone - although Zamparini sees only the darkest vision.
"I really like Napoli's attitude because, unlike us, they always battle on the field. I think it's 80 per cent sure they'll beat us."
