Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini intends to strengthen their squad in January.
The Sicilians are just a point behind third-placed Juventus and a spot in next season's top European club competition.
"We are looking to sign four or five players in January that will allow us to reach our objective," he stated.
"Our target, since the start of the season, was always to qualify for the Champions League."
When asked if he now regretted selling star man Edinson Cavani to rivals Napoli, Zamparini said no.
"We might have been stronger still with Cavani, but then again we might not have signed Josip Ilicic had he remained
"And then there is the fact that Cavani was the one who wanted to leave, I just made him happy."
