Palermo president Zamparini dismisses Roma Champions League hopes

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has declared they can clinch a Champions League place - at the expense of Roma. He said: “On Sunday it will not be a play-off between Palermo and Fiorentina, because whoever loses will certainly not be miles behind so early into the campaign. It will be an important tie, though. “We are two teams on the same level, along with Lazio, and all three will compete for a place in the Champions League, seeing as Roma are in freefall.”
