Palermo president Zamparini defends Colantuono sacking

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has explained the sacking of Stefano Colantuono.

"The responsibility for the decision regarding Colantuono was all mine," the temperamental President told Il Giornale. "My sporting director and chief executive only found out about it this morning and they weren't too pleased.

"However, I make the decisions here and I made my mind up last night after two days of thinking about it. "After the game in Udine we had a meeting and what I heard just didn't convince me.

"I felt I couldn't trust the Coach and technical staff and certain people just added to the pressure. I didn't feel that the squad was stable," he concluded.

Zamparini has already replaced Colantuono with Davide Ballardini.
