Palermo made an approach for West Ham United midfielder Valon Behrami on Saturday.
Sicilian sources say agent Alessandro Beltrami sounded out West Ham about the possibility of selling Behrami to the Rosanero, but received zero encouragement.
West Ham insist Behrami cannot be sold with such little time to find a replacement for the Switzerland international.
