Both Rangers and Celtic are chasing down the signature of Palermo defender Dorin Goian. The centre-back Goian has failed to impress due to injuries and is on the market this summer.
Rangers made the first move with an offer of around 500,000, but it's reported Celtic now hope to hijack the deal.
It's believed the Hoops have proposed a more advantageous financial deal to snap up Goian for the SPL.
He is a Romanian international who joined Palermo from Steaua Bucharest in 2009 for 2m.
