Meanwhile, The Sun claims that Tottenham have also joined the Red Devils in the pursuit of the 27-year-old.
Varquez, who scored eight goals and provided seven assists for his club last season, is under contract with the Rosanero until 2019.
However, Palermo's Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed that the player will be allowed to leave in the summer.
"We won't hold on to Vazquez," Zamparini told Italian outlet Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
"There's a market for him to leave, we're dealing with some international clubs. I'll sell him abroad."
