The Rosanero's president, Maurizio Zamparini, had admitted before the game that Colantuono was under pressure after their shock UEFA Cup elimination last week at the hands of Mlada Boleslav.

"It has not been a critical week for us," insisted Colantuono at the final whistle yesterday.

"I was only relatively interested in the result, as what was important today was the performance. We played a great game.

"It is true we risked defeat, but at the end we got back into it. When we play like that, I am happy."

Palermo wasted many chances and seemed stilted until Nicola Amoruso gave Reggina the lead late on. Amauri's diving header earned a 1-1 draw deep into stoppages.

"The fans booed us off the field because we didn't win, but I am satisfied with the way the team played.

"I did not read President Zamparini's comments. I focus only on football. We spoke at the start of the week, after the Empoli defeat."
