Palermo have announced they're signing Catania defender Matias Silvestre.

Talks have been going on for over a week and the Rosanero beat competition from Juventus for the Argentine.

"On Monday there will be this final meeting between directors Sean Sogliano and Pietro Lo Monaco to complete the transfer," said President Maurizio Zamparini.

"We just have to work out which players go to Catania in exchange, but the deal is done."
