Palermo are rivaling Sevilla for Wigan Athletic midfielder Mohamed Diame.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed plans to secure Diame to a new contract.
Sevilla were understood to be winning the race for the 23-year-old midfielder, who has admitted a move to Spain does appeal to him.
But sources in Italy have indicated that Palermo have been tracking Diame for much of the season and are now ready to offer him a shot at Serie A.
