Palace youngster Zaha wins top Football League gong

Crystal Palace teenage midfielder Wilfried Zaha received the npower Football League Young Player of the Year Award. The 19-year-old scooped the prize at the Football League Awards 2012 ahead of Blackpool's Matt Phillips and Brighton's Lewis Dunk.

He said at the ceremony: "I am surprised to be honest. I was really hoping I could do it, I had my fingers crossed.

"This has been a really good season for me. This has topped it off to be honest.

"Crystal Palace is a nice club to be at and I have been there since under-10s so I know how it works and I feel comfortable there."
