Palace warn out of contract players there are no more discussions

Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman has warned any out of contract players that the offers that have been put to them are as high as they are going to get, reports the Croydon Advertiser. The club has offered deals to a number of out of contract players, namely Neil Danns and Anthony Gardner, who is without a club now, and he says that the ball is now in the players' court because the Eagles "will not be held to ransom".

He said: "We have to stick to our limits. It's happened too many times before with this club and it went into administration and we will not be held to ransom by players, that's not going to happen again.

"We've made our offers and we are going to stick to them." Neither Danns nor Gardner, who was on loan at Selhurst Park from Hull last season, have indicated whether they will be taking them up on those offers yet.

Of Gardner, Freedman said: "Anthony's someone we would like to keep, but the financial situation is hard. There are other clubs interested and financially we can't match up, so I have to persuade him this is where he wants to be.

"He's one I want to try and keep here, so hopefully he will take it. It's more hope with him than being confident."

As for Danns, who is said to be interesting old firm duo Celtic and Rangers, Freedman said: "We've offered as much as we think is fair. He's not taken it up, but he's not refused it yet.

"The budget is not a lot, so I've got to wheel and deal and that might mean having to get one or two out to get one or two in. Financially it is hard."
