Crystal Palace veteran Kevin Phillips is delighted for Ricki Lambert over his England breakthrough.
Like the Southampton striker, Phillips also played non-league football before making the big time.
"I was delighted for Rickie [Lambert of Southampton], playing for England when not at a fashionable club just as I did when at Sunderland, which wasn't a big fashionable club like Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool. It's great credit to him. He found it a bit difficult second half, things were coming off him but his first game and a half were outstanding," he told the Sunday Telegraph.
