Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman has turned to yoga to keep the Eagles in the Championship. Palace's fortunes have improved since the Scot took charge in January and he attributes this to his introduction of the Japanese meditation technique.
"I introduced the yoga a few weeks ago which was something I was taking part in towards the end of my career," he told the Mirror.
"We now do it twice a week and the lads are seeing the benefit of it. It is not just the physical aspect - it is also the mental aspect to take the pressure away and calm them down a little bit."
Freedman is happy at the calming effect the yoga seems to be having on the players.
"We don't do it because Ryan Giggs does it. I did it towards the end of my career and it really helped me. It is about giving the guys the opportunity to get together in a room, very quiet and stretch.
"They have got the option and if they don't take it up, it is not a problem for me. I feel it is something that will help," he added.
"If I can introduce it to the players, the youngsters especially, and they can grab on to it, then great. The older guys, the more mature guys can get one or two more years out of their careers.
"It is nothing too trendy - I don't want to get too involved in yoga. It is just something we do on Monday morning."
