Palace swoop for Gayle secures Dagenham & Redbridge future

Dwight Gayle's move to Crystal Palace has secured the future of former club Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Sun says Palace could end up paying a staggering £8.5million for Peterborough United striker Gayle.

Gayle, 22, joined Peterborough from Dagenham for £400,000 in January following a successful loan spell at the end of last year. The east Londoners insisted on a 25 per cent sell-on clause - which means they will receive at least £1.5m from the move.

And with Dagenham's entire wage bill totalling about £750,000, it means Gayle's transfer has secured the League Two club's future.
