Palace striker Phillips takes No2 caretaker job

Crystal Palace striker Kevin Phillips has been named assistant manager to caretaker Keith Millen.

For Saturday's home match with Arsenal, former England striker Phillips will help out in the Palace dugout.

"It would be nice to have a new manager by the weekend but can't imagine something will happen that quick, the decision only happened yesterday," Millen said. "I'm working as if I will be in charge. I've asked Kevin Phillips to help, who the players respect and I respect. he is a great pro. so he has stepped up."
