Crystal Palace have completed the signing of defender John Halls on a one-month loan deal from Reading.

The full-back has struggled to make an impact with the Royals this season - although he did find the net in their 4-2 Carling Cup defeat to Liverpool in October - and has also spent time on loan with Palace's Coca-Cola Championship rivals Preston.

Halls began his career at Arsenal where he also enjoyed loan spells at Colchester and Belgian side Beveren, before moving to Stoke and then the Madejski Stadium.

The 25-year-old will go straight into Neil Warnock's squad for the trip to fellow Championship play-off hopefuls Wolves on Saturday.
