Wigan Athletic failed with a bid for Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha last week.
The Mirror says Wigan offered to loan Zaha back to Crystal Palace as part of a proposed deal to take him to the DW Stadium before the transfer window closed.
The deal would have sent he 19-year-old attacker return to Selhurst Park before joining the Latics at the end of the season.
However, the Eagles believe they can land more than the £3million that was on offer from the Barclays Premier League club and will wait until they receive a better offer.
