Crystal Palace have been punished for fielding Arsenal striker Rui Fonte after his loan deal had expired this season.

Palace have been docked a point off last season's total and fined £20,000 for fielding Arsenal's Fonte in their final game, despite his loan having expired.

Palace, who have signed Darren Ambrose on a free transfer, still finished in 15th place. Fonte has since been released by the Gunners back to Sporting Lisbon.
