Palace ponder dealing in QPR trialist Sam Magri

QPR defender Sam Magri is trialling with Crystal Palace.

The youngster is doing preseason with Palace's development squad after being released from QPR.

"He was a very good youth player at Portsmouth and played for England," Palace youth chief Gary Issott told the Croydon Advertiser.

"Portsmouth went into administration and he became a free agent by default on his contract.

"He went to QPR, but he's someone who an agent rang me about recently and said he was available.

"I know he was a good player in the past, and I've only really seen him once last season so it was one of them that I'd kick myself if we didn't have a look at him and he'd gone somewhere and signed.

"We have him on trial to see if he's going to be better than the lads we've got, so he's got a big challenge.

"He is someone we want to look at because Ryan Inniss is still to come back from injury.

"It's been disappointing for Ryan because he went to Gillingham and got injured on his debut. He also scored for Luton Town on his debut on loan last season.

"We had hoped he'd come back and been fit to travel with the first team to Austria potentially but he's missed that. But I'm sure he's going to have another loan move somewhere."
