Crystal Palace have moved to trump Leicester City for Cardiff City striker Fraizer Campbell.
The Sunday Mirror says Campbell has a £1million release clause in his Cardiff deal, which has been activated by an offer from Leicester.
Palace are prepared to match that bid but a move to the south London club is complicated by the 'Spygate' scandal which saw Cardiff report Palace to the Premier League over allegations that they obtained inside information about the Bluebirds team before a 3-0 win in April.
However, Palace boss Tony Pulis is determined to join the battle for the former Manchester United junior.
