Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni is urging rival Wayne Hennessey to be patient.
Palace boss Neil Warnock has admitted Hennessey could seek a move in January.
But Speroni told the South London Press: "When I first came to the club I had to wait for my chance and it took me two years to get a proper run in the team.
"Wayne is a top professional so he knows that you compete for a place. Sadly in the goalkeeping position there is only one on the pitch - you can't play on the left or right. So it's a tough one.
"Wayne will keep working. There are no secrets at Palace - we all want to play. You go through periods where you have to be patient. He knows that."
