Palace to have Everton striker available for relegation run-in

James Vaughan could make a miraculous recovery and be fit for Crystal Palace's Good Friday trip to Doncaster Rovers, reports the Croydon Guardian. The on-loan Everton striker feared his season was over when he left the pitch with a bad looking ankle injury against Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

He then punched a dressing room wall in frustration, breaking a bone in his hand, but Eagles boss Dougie Freedman was cheered when told Vaughan could be available as soon as Friday.

"James injured his hand and his ankle but I have been given the good news he should be fit to play on Friday," he said.

"He just twisted his ankle and will try and train tomorrow and we will see where he is but it is good news for us.

"Out of frustration afterwards he punched a wall and he let himself down a little bit but it won't stop him playing."
