Palace frustrate Leicester with share of the spoils

Crystal Palace picked up only their seventh point away from home with a battling 1-1 draw at promotion chasing Leicester. Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson felt it was a missed opportunity for, despite closing the gap on the top six from five to four points, really needed to take all three.

Eriksson said: "It's crazy, we are one point closer than we were before the game which is amazing.

"Today it was a missed opportunity but many, many times in the past as well.

"We should win games like this, we shouldn't lose two points.

"The remarkable thing is still to have a chance and now comes a big game on Saturday and after that another big one - the two next games I would guess will be the answer to where we're going to end up."

Palace counterpart Dougie Freedman admitted his side's next two games will be crucial.

"It's a very good point," Freedman said.

"I felt we deserved a point, we didn't nick a point, I thought we deserved it with an all-round good performance.

"At this precise moment in the season it's points that matter. But it's pleasing the way we played.

"I think our next two games against Scunthorpe and Doncaster will be crucial to our season and where we finish. It's fair to say that, there's no doubt about it.

"I think we've got enough in our locker and enough within the squad to get the vital points that we need against those two teams."

Palace midfielder Wilfried Zaha saw red for an apparent stamp late on in injury time to slightly take the gloss off the result.

Foxes boss Eriksson added: "I don't think we played well in the first half. But we came back good in the second half, more lively, scored a fantastic goal and created some chances, half-chances.

"We tried all the time. It's frustrating."
