Crystal Palace have failed with a late bid to sign Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha ahead of Cardiff City.
The Mirror says Cardiff owner, Vincent Tan, agreed to pay a huge loan fee to the Old Trafford giants after days of haggling, and only when Palace came in with a similar offer.
The Londoners' chairman Steve Parish was willing to finance a move for Zaha and pay a bigger 'rental' fee than Cardiff were offering to re-sign one of the heroes of Palace's promotion campaign last season.
However, Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his man, despite being shocked when former employers United demanded a large six-figure sum.
