Palace fight to hold on to Brighton target Garvan

Crystal Palace boss Dougie Freedman is determined midfielder Owen Garvan will not be moving to Championship rivals Brighton. The former Ipswich player slipped out of the first-team reckoning after Freedman replaced George Burley in the Palace hotseat in January.

Freedman told the South London Press: "Brighton have enquired about Owen but I'm reluctant to let him go because he is such a good player.

"He didn't find himself in the team at the end of last season but I'm sure if he comes back and gets his head down that his quality will shine through.

"Time will tell if that is in our team or someone else's."
