Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy says manager Tony Pulis has been the ideal appointment.

McCarthy, who has one Republic of Ireland B cap, is backing boss Pulis to save Palace from the drop.

He added: "The club couldn't have picked a better man for the job.

"We've set ourselves the 40-point target and are looking forward to the challenge."
