Palace chief Parish: I could've done more to keep Holloway

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish feels he could've done more to convince Ian Holloway to stay.

Parish is happy with the appointment of Tony Pulis, but feels he should have worked harder to keep Holloway.

"When I look back on it, I'm sure Ian might have some regrets about going, and maybe at the time I should have pushed harder to talk him into staying," the Eagles chief told talkSPORT.

"In trying to change the team's style of play and bringing in a few new faces, I think he just felt maybe that he upset the equilibrium of the group and was creating some tension.

"Ian's a very caring person, and maybe he was more attuned to that and more worried about that than the players were - I never really felt a dip in attitude.

"But I think he did feel that the team didn't really want to play the way he wanted to, that they felt more comfortable in a more defensive style, playing on the break, than the free flowing football Ian has produced at other clubs."
